Hellenic only:
The academic year starts on September 1st and ends on August 31st of the following year and is divided into two academic study semesters: winter and spring.
Each of these includes at least 13 full weeks of teaching and 3 weeks of exams.
By decision of the University Senate, the specific start and end dates of the semesters are determined between the following time periods:
Winter semester: Beginning with mid-October – mid-February (including exams).
Spring semester: End of February – Beginning of July (including exams).
The start date of each semester may be slightly different for each Department, following a relevant decision of its Collective body (its General Assembly).
In September, repetitive exams of all courses are held for those students who failed or did not participate in the previous exam periods and were registered for semester exams.
According to the operating regulations of the University of Peloponnese (Government Gazette B, 1563 /9-5-2019, article 16) courses and exams are interrupted on the following dates:
In the winter semester:
• on October 28, (National holiday)
• on November 17, (Educational holiday)
• during the Christmas holidays starting on December 23rd and ending on January 6th and
• January 30th (Three Hierarchs, religious-educational holiday.)
In the spring semester:
• on Clean Monday,
• on March 25, (National holiday)
• during the Easter holidays that begin on Holy Monday and end on St. Thomas Sunday,
• on May Day and
• of the Holy Spirit
On the day of Rector’s and student elections.
On the day of celebration of the patron saint of the city, in which each Department is based.
